So, I'm trying to eat healthier and have been finding some yummy things at TJs.
Here are some things I've discovered recently:
Cabot 75% less fat cheddar (really melts and tastes like cheese!)
fat-free TJs brand of greek yogurt
carb cutter tortillas
non-fat whole grain brown bread
100 calorie pack of chocolate graham toucan cookies
anyone else have any healthy TJs winners to share?

Fri, May 9, 2008 - 7:29 PMSeverina - what an awesome list! I'm also trying to eat healthier and I'm printing your entire list to take shopping to TJ's tomorrow!
Thanks!
I really love their steamed lentils in the fresh salad section. A little decadently priced, since lentils are so cheap and simple to cook, but they have a wonderful texture and make a great addition to a salad.

Sat, May 10, 2008 - 5:09 PMoo those sound good for salads, i'll have to give them a try. glad the list was helpful too.
I also really love the Mediterranean hummus and dip cucumber slices and whole wheat pitas into it. it tastes so good that i have to watch it, since eating half the container isn't so hot. ;)
also i forgot another staple - the reduced fat string cheese. my housemate really likes the cheddar sticks too.
with the greek yogurt i have it with cut up strawberries or other fruit and it's so good. -

Sat, May 10, 2008 - 10:46 PMFor hummus I like their eggplant hummus. It has less fat calories than the other choices at TJ's.
Here's another one of my favorites. TJ's Grilled Vegetable & Black Bean Burrito in the frozen food section. It's really delicious, smells great when heated and has no meat or dairy. It has less than 1/3 calories from fat. When I'm looking for low fat foods, as a general guide I look for the Calories from Fat to be no more than 1/3 the number of total Calories. -

Re: healthy and tasty at TJs
Fri, May 16, 2008 - 6:44 PMWell, I realized today that I was mistaken in thinking the Grilled Vegetable and Black Bean Burritos have no dairy. They do have some, I found out when I was eating them today. Probably doesn't matter much to most of you that there is a little cheese, but it does to me as I am trying to eat vegan. They have so little cheese I didn't know it was in there. Checking the ingredients when I noticed that tell tale stretch of cheese today, I saw it does have cheese. I guess I won't be buying them again. I thought I'd better post this correction to my previous post just in case there are any other vegans who read this tribe.

Thu, December 4, 2008 - 2:52 AMTry the steamed lentils in Roasted Tomato and Ted Pepper soup (it comes in a carton). There is a low-sodium version but it's not as tasty. I sometimes add some spinach, zuccini, boiled potatoes, or low fat sausage: it's a very flexible and filling soup. It's not cheap, but you can get at least 3 servings out of it.
